21 Nov #ERASMUSDAYS – 2nd Igniting Event successfully organized in Porto
On October 10, 2019, took place the seminar “New Approaches to Education for Citizenship and Social Inclusion”, inserted in the celebrations of #ErasmusDay, at the Florbela Espanca Municipal Library, in Matosinhos. Organized by INOVA+ and MENTORTEC, the event aimed to celebrate the #ErasmusDays initiative and it was a good opportunity to present SOCI@LL results.
The event was attended by more than 40 professionals from different types of organizations linked to the educational sector, including schools, municipalities, children’s and youth associations and higher education institutions. Key-note speakers specialised in the education and citizenship, such as Ana Paula Alves (from the Erasmus + Education and Training National Agency) and Luís Gonçalves (from the National Citizenship Education Working Group, created by joint order of the Secretary of State for Citizenship and Equality and the Secretary of State for Education) shared their views and experiences regarding inclusive schools and citizenship education.
The first panel was focused on the “National Citizenship Education Strategy” and was followed by the “Erasmus + contributions in the national context”, both presented by the guest speakers. Following their panels and coffee-break, two Eramus+ projects (KA3), supported by the European Commission’s Executive Agency for Education, Audiovisual and Culture were presented. SOCI@LL, which presented a “Global Approach to School and Social Laboratories”, and EAR which emphasizes the use of “Dialectical Method and Theater in Citizenship Education”.
These two projects, which focus on innovative approaches to inclusive education, are in a consolidated phase (needs and priorities have been mapped with key stakeholders) and now provide for a set of pilot activities with school communities and / or the community concerned in general.
Overall, the feedback from the participants was extremely positive, underlining the interest and relevance of the event and the panels, the quality of the coffee-break, and the opportunity for networking and sharing best practices throughout the event.
